MICROSOFT OFFICE TUTOR: Give your PowerPoint audience continuity with custom slide numbers (2002/2003/2004/2007)

Quite often, presenters have to share an overall presentation with other people, and integrate their own show into the mix. If your show doesn’t begin until the first presenter gets through 18 slides, you can begin your show with slide 19 in order to maintain continuity throughout the program. This way, each presenter’s “mini” presentation numbering can seamlessly blend with the others.

To customize your slide numbering:

  1. Select File | Page Setup.
  2. In the Page Setup dialog box, change the number appearing in the Number Slides From spin box to whatever you wish.
  3. Click OK.

Adapt for PowerPoint 2007
To change your starting slide number in PowerPoint 2007, go to the Design tab. In the Page Setup group, click the Page Setup button. In the resulting dialog box, change the number in the Number Slides From spin box and click OK to accept the change.
