MICROSOFT OFFICE TUTOR: Revolutionize your underlining with a simple font setting (2000/2002/2003/2004/2007)
Posted on September 7th, 2009 by Eli Journals
Underlining characters may not be something you think about often, but it’s a chance to add a decorative element to your documents. Rather than settle for the default single line, use Word’s Font options to introduce some style to your text.
To change Word’s underline style:
- Select the text to underline in your document.
- Select Format | Font to open the Font dialog box.
- From the Underline Style dropdown list, select the underline style you wish to apply. A preview of the style appears in the Preview box, as shown in Figure A.
- Select an underline color, if desired, from the Underline Color dropdown list.
- Click OK to apply the style and close the dialog box.
Adapt for Word 2007
In Word 2007, you don’t even need to open the Font dialog box. You just need to select the text that you want to underline, and then go to the Home tab. In the Font group, click on the dropdown arrow to the right of the Underline button to open a dropdown palette where you can choose a different line style.
