CUSTOMER SERVICE CORNER: Engage caller participation in 4 easy steps
Posted on August 21st, 2009 by Eli Journals
No one wants to participate in a dull conversation. Spicing up your conversations by giving the caller a chance to voice his opinions and share his concerns is not only entertaining, but also great for your company in terms of feedback.
Try these four tips to spruce up your caller activity.
- Don’t be afraid to ask. Asking questions can help to coax the caller into giving important information. It’s okay to inquire if you can ask them questions before you start so that they know those questions need an answer.
- Share stories to jog their memory. You can share personal stories or other caller testimonies to get the ball rolling in terms of a good discussion. This can encourage your caller to share his own personal story to add to your collection.
- Take a minute. Pause frequently during your conversation so that the caller is inclined to fill in the gaps. You may want to end on a question so that the caller can supply you with an answer. If the answer is not what you were looking for, ask the caller to elaborate or to explain his point in more detail.
- Give the caller information. It’s always a good idea to give your callers some contact information so that they can get in touch with you if they come up with any questions on their own or want to voice concerns after you’ve ended the call.
Getting your callers to participate can be quite a difficult task, but giving them the opportunity to share their opinions and actively engaging in what they have to offer can make for a better conversation for both parties.
